Meet the Owners

The White Buffalo is a family-owned and managed business specializing in Southwestern and Native American Jewelry, Art and Home Decor. "Located in Historic Downtown Truckee CA, the heart of the Sierra has been our home since 1989. We make several trips each year to the southwest, dealing directly with the Native American people as well as attending various gift shows to keep up with the newest in southwestern and mountain decor." Owners Jerry and Donna Wood are able to offer exceptional prices on an extensive inventory of Indian Jewelry, artifacts and Gold Quartz. Here you'll enjoy a selection whose quality is matched only by the personal service you will receive.

We are proud to offer the Sierra Nevada's most unique and natural gem stone, Gold Quartz. This beautiful Quartz stone, veined with 24kt gold, is from the original 16 to 1 Mine first opened in the late 1800's and located in the Sierra Nevada foothills. Fashioned in 14kt gold by a Northern California artist, this Gold Quartz Jewelry is truly the Gem of the Sierras.

Our featured artists have changed in the last few years. It is with much regret that we report the death of Lynol Yellowhorse. Lynol died from complications of a stroke in late October, 2003. Please join us in expressing our sorrow to Lynol's family. This young artist will long be remembered for his unique talent and contemporary designs.

We are very pleased to announce that after a short sabbatical, Ray Tracey is back making his beautiful inlay jewelry; so uniquely styled that each piece seems like a signature piece. His most recent Artist Show at the White Buffalo in July of this year (2007) was great fun and a romping success. Ray had an opportunity to re-connect with lots of you who have loved his work and followed his career for many years. Thanks to all his fans for making it a wonderful weekend and welcome back Ray!

We continue to feature Federico Jimenez, an Mixtec jeweler from Southern California who specializes in bold turquoise and coral jewelry set in sterling silver and 14kt gold. Look for his full-page adds in "COWBOYS & INDIANS" magazine! Some of the other well known artists to watch for include Daniel Coriz, Tommy Singer and Christin Wolf.

You will find an extensive selection of southwestern and contemporary turquoise jewelry from traditional styles such as Navajo and Zuni squash blossom necklaces to timeless nugget and heishi strands from the Santa Domingo Pueblo. In addition you will find red coral, lapis, jet, larimar and an array of semi-precious stones.

We also have a wide variety of artifacts (all Native made) such as quivers, bows, pipes, tomahawks and other war tools. Our home furnishings selection includes lamps, furniture and Navajo Sand Art as well as contemporary Raku pottery to complement your home décor. These, along with Navajo and Zapotec rugs, Storytellers, Hopi and Navajo Kachinas and authentic Pueblo Pottery compile one of the largest inventories of Native American artifacts in California.
