Larimar Jewelry
Discovered
in the 1970’s and found only in the Dominican Republic, this unique Caribbean
gemstone is a rare form of pectolite. Its beautiful blue color bears a striking
similarity to the sparkling waters of the tropics and was named “Larimar” by
a Dominican after his daughter “Larissa” and “Mar”, the Spanish word for SEA.
Often mistaken for Turquoise, Larimar is a much more durable stone with a hardness
rating of 5 to 7.
